Equipped to Excel
Sport & Performance Psychology Consulting
We run to the edge - to the arena, the field, the stage, the boardroom - to see what we're made of. To reveal glimpses of our full potential.
Great performers strive for mastery of craft;
the best performers invest in mastery of self.

When your moment arrives,
be equipped to meet it.

What Do We Do Here?
As a performer, you have organized your life to run to the edge.
What do you do when you get there?
If you can answer that question honestly, you have already proven to yourself how powerful your mind is. Maybe you feel frustrated, anxious, afraid, complacent, self-limited - stuck. Take ownership of how you show up in the moments of high stress and consequence by attending to the often neglected element of your training: the mind.
There are only three things you can train as you work to crack your own performance puzzle:
-
Your body
-
Your craft
-
Your mind
You are constantly training your mind as you think about, respond to, and relate to yourself and to your world. The question is, are you training your mind in a way that allows you to adjust, pivot and thrive when you get to the edge? Or have you trained yourself to freeze, panic, doubt, and run away? Training the mind requires the same time, attention and repetition as does training the body. Through our work together, you will learn about the mind-body connection, grow your awareness, expand your understanding, shift your perspective, experiment with your knowledge, and develop skills and strategies to both deal with and overcome your internal obstacles to performance.
At Equipped to Excel, we use psychological knowledge, backed by neuroscientific and physiological underpinnings, to address optimal performance and well-being of individuals and teams. We have the capacity to harness, direct, and train the mind in a way that allows us to show up to the moments in our lives. Now is your time to take ownership.
Theory, Integration, & the Client Promise
Our consulting approach is integrated, built from the belief that each individual is unique in their subjective reality of the world, the challenges they face, and their experience of change. It is our professional responsibility to meld appropriate elements of multiple underlying theories and integrate their respective techniques so we are informed by a theoretical framework that is inclusive, holistic and tailored effectively.
Everyone is striving for greater mental strength, but the strength we search for can only come through fostering flexibility of the mind. To achieve this aim, we primarily work from the conceptual lens of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), infusing more traditional cognitive-behavioral interventions, somatic and body-based skills, and a postmodern understanding of how humans experience and make sense of their world.
All of our work is grounded in a person-centered, relational, systemic framework to ensure each performer is understood within the greater context of their life.

You are the expert on yourself; your wants and needs will determine the direction we go. We will be there with you for every step you take in your journey toward healing, growth, excellence, and mastery of self.

Professional Philosophy
My Path & Purpose

I grew up in Vermont in a ski racing family, and after graduating from a winter sports academy, I went on to Middlebury College where I studied psychology and competed for their DI Alpine Ski Team for four years. I gained experience coaching before going back to school at the University of Denver to pursue a Master’s Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology. My educational experience was bolstered by two years of working with athletes, coaches, and parents in the Denver community as a Mental Performance Consultant for the University’s Center for Performance Excellence (CPEX). Since then, I have met the highest standard of professional practice in the field through certification by the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. My life came full circle in 2020 as I pioneered a role in the realm of mental performance at Stratton Mountain School as the academy’s fully integrated Mental Performance Specialist. While I continue to partner with Stratton Mountain School, I have recently begun Doctoral training in the field of Clinical Psychology at the University of Antioch New England. My desire to meld Clinical and Performance psychology is in an effort to meet the vast diversity of athlete and performer needs in our current world.

I come from an athletic background plagued with stress, fear, and injury swirling within a hurricane of expectation. I also come from an academic background devoted to understanding the human mind, human behavior, and the science of human performance. As my passions collided, I knew I wanted to be the person for others that I needed through my own toughest internal battles.

Pursuing this work has allowed me to reorganize my life in a way that keeps me running to the edge, surrounded by passionate, driven people running to meet me there.
